Kids Celebrate Magazine - Is a popular magazine for families in the East Valley. The publication has loads of articles that inform moms and dads about ideas, games and events that will keep their kids busy.

Free Children's Activities in Phoenix - Visit phoenix.about.com for an up-to-date list of events and activities for kids here.

Organizations

Jack and Jill Phoenix Chapter - I grew up as Jack and Jill kid and I enjoyed socializing with the other African American kids. Jack and Jill provides opportunities for African American children to participate in activities and events that help build leadership skills and personal growth. Jack and Jill showed me positive images of black families and reaffirmed my beliefs that academic and career success was always within my reach - as long as I worked hard.

Yes, I've heard all the talk about how today's Jack and Jill is "bougie" and overly selective. However, if you are looking to expose your children to other positive African American role models and fun activities, I encourage you to at least investigate the possibility of joining the Jack and Jill Phoenix Chapter.

Mocha Moms Phoenix - Hosts family activities, educational events and play/support groups for children and mothers of color.

Educational

Phoenix Zoo - This place offers great opportunities for children to learn about wildlife and for moms and dads to get some exercise! I've been here many times and always see something new!

Arizona Science Center - Fun for children and adults! I don't know if I have room to describe all of the exhibits and feature inside the Arizona Science Center! You just have to see it for yourself! You can even host birthday parties here!

Local libraries - The Valley has hundreds of libraries and millions of books that can keep children occupied for hours on end. Your local libraries also host fun and educational events. Visit your city or town government Website for more information on libraries near you!

Waterparks

These were the top water parks back when I was a kid and they're still runnin' strong in the Valley:

The public swimming pools at your neighborhood parks also do a great job of keeping kids entertained at a lower cost!

Sports

Wow, there's no way I can count all of the leagues in the Phoenix area for soccer, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, etc., etc.

However, I encourage parents to support their kids' athletic interests in a positive and legal manner! I've read those stories about the psycho parents who start fights at the games!

Hopefully, I've helped some parents find ways to turn their kids onto some fun, healthy and interesting activities - especially in the summer!

I encourage parents to share other ideas and advice by clicking on the Comments link!
